So you are having a Hens Do in the Hunter Valley and are wondering what fun things you and the girls can get up to? You might understandably imagine that there is nothing but Wineries to browse but you would be wrong - there are alot more things to do before and after your must-do wine tour!

Here are 5 top examples of experiences that have proved very popular...

1. The Obligatory Hen's Wine Tour of course!
   Duration: Anything from 3 hours to half and full day tours

   To come to the Hunter Valley and not do a wine tour is not an option! If you are not familiar with this area it is one of Australia's premier wine regions with an abundance of incredible wineries set in some of the most beautiful countryside NSW has to offer.

   As mentioned, just in the normal course of events you can’t go to the Hunter Valley without going on a wine tour but for a Party of Hens to go to the Hunter Valley without going on a wine tour would be like going to the moon without oxygen, a ridiculous venture!

   It is the number one activity that anyone goes to the Hunter for and it is the perfect way to start off your day in a civilised manner. We say start off in a civilised manner because by the time you’ve been to 5 wineries it’s likely that it won’t be so civilised - we’ve all seen pictures of the lovely ladies attending the races only to see those same ladies a few hours later in a very different state - wine tours and hens often produce similar results - be warned!

   There are many tours to choose from but it’s definitely worth selecting one that specifically caters for the Hen because they will be used to their sometimes outrageous antics. There are heaps of Wine Tour operators out there so jump on the internet and simply type in 'Hunter Valley Wine Tours for Hens' and take your pick. We haven't recommended a specific one in this blog post because every Hens Group is so different, meaning, it's advisable that you call a few and see which type will suit your particular group depending upon whether you are likely to be a relatively tame civilised group, a super crazy bunch that will almost certainly get loud and more than a bit tipsy, or somewhere in between. You definitely want to make sure you pick the right one or you'll either be bored or thrown off the bus lol, so choose...wisely!

   An extra luxury to consider, if the budget permits, is to Hire a Topless Waiter to do the tour with you - he can be part of the giggles on the bus and help pour the drinks at each winery that you attend on the tour. A bit of man flesh is always warranted on a Hens night even if it is a wine tour!

   And the age old question - should you spit or swallow? It’s always better to swallow than spit - on a wine tour, you get drunker that way of course... what did you think we meant!



2. Get Creative with a Life Drawing Class!
   Duration: 1 to 2 hours

   Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! This is the greatest Hens Activity you could ever do that really engages everyone, builds heaps of rapport and brings the group together plus it’s one of the best value for money hens activities too.

   Hens absolutely love it and for good reason - it’s super fun, it involves a hot man and he’s completely naked. You can either leave him to run the session as he sees fit or you can take complete control over your session - he can do lots of short poses lasting just a few minutes each for groups with short attention span’s (often the Hens groups that have had a few drinks already haha), or for the more serious artists he can do longer poses to give you time to really get into your drawings. But either way he will always make it cheeky, titillating and amusing. The fruits of your labour will be hilarious and you should compare each other’s sketches for even more laughter. It’s always interesting to see which body part each girl has focused on the most - you might be surprised at some of your friends choices!

   He will bring pads of paper and pencils so all you have to do is bring yourselves and be prepared to have a bash at drawing no matter how bad the pictures turn out! We cannot supply charcoal because it can get a bit messy on clothes and carpets etc but if you are happy to take the risk and bring your own it does make the drawing experience even more fun.

   Everyone is always blown away by this activity and often cannot believe how good some of the drawings actually turn out to be. 3. Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting!
   Duration: 45 Minutes to 2 hours

   Surely you are thinking, ‘mmm, tipsy or even downright drunk Hens firing guns at randomly moving targets... what could possibly go wrong??!’ Well, in this case nothing!

   Totally Safe, this activity uses lasers instead of actual bullets but for superb authenticity it does use real 12 gauge shotguns that have been converted to fire infra-red beams of light at the clay pigeons plus the sound effects are extremely realistic.

   The clay pigeons are fired from the launcher as normal but when you hit one with your laser the beam is reflected back to your gun and registers a hit on the electronic scoreboard. You can split the hens party into teams or just see who is the best markswomen in the group. This Hens Activity is super popular among Hens of all ages and fitness levels. There is no kick back from the gun, no actual bullets and is entirely safe even for the Grandmas and aging Aunties! And another bonus, it’s environmentally friendly leaving no trace! This is way more fun than you might imagine especially with a few glasses of bubbly going round too! 4. Hens Cocktail Making Classes!
   Duration: 1 to 2 hours

   Who doesn’t like a good cocktail? Let’s narrow that down further shall we... what Hens don’t like cocktails?? That’s right, none! Well, we have certainly never come across a Hens Party that doesn’t like a cocktail or two!

   Cocktail making is one of those things that you see at the bar all the time but have never actually been taught to have a go at properly making one yourself. Maybe you’ve had a go at home without a proper mixer, without a proper shaker and without a proper stirrer so that they always turn out just a little bit lame don’t they? So here is your chance to learn from an expert, use all the correct tools of the trade and have fun with all of your friends at the same time!

   Not only will you get to make some fantastic and well-known cocktails, which you can drink of course, but you will also get to make your very own signature cocktail and put together those flavours you’ve always wondered about mixing but were too afraid to try!

   And remember this activity would be another excellent opportunity to incorporate a Topless Waiter if the purse strings allow!

5. Hens Cooking Classes!
   Duration: 4 hours (including eating all the food you've cooked!)

   If you are looking to combine a super fun hands on activity with your Hens lunch in the Hunter Valley then a cooking class where you eat all the food is a fantastic way to start of the day. There are quite a few cooking experiences like this in the Hunter but do check out Hunter Valley Resort Cooking School because they can cater specifically for groups of Hens.

   You would need a minimum of 8 girls.

   There are different packages and menus to choose from but essentially you will be cooking a 3 course meal from scratch using local organic produce from approximately 10.30am with a view to eating your sumptuous feast for lunch!

   This Hunter Valley Hens activity is a fantastic bonding experience for you and your Bridesmaids or fellow Hens or even makes a fabulous surprise event for your Bride-to-Be!

   You can also book this as an evening activity and eat the feast for dinner instead if you prefer.

   To top it all off the same resort does have a few other awesome activities available from horse riding to candy making but we think that if you have the time the Grape Stomping is an hilarious addition to the day - there's nothing like jumping into a barrel, hoiking up your skirt tails and squishing the grapes into wine between your feet like in the good old days!
